Last week, Harry Watts Academy were invited to the pre-opening of Houghton Feast for SEN schools in the local area. Along with two other schools, we had the opportunity to go on all the rides in a much quieter environment. Houghton Feast is a yearly event that celebrates the local cultures. It is a ten day event that includes activities that suit everyone. The activities include carnival parades, fairground rides, a firework display, the famous ox roast and much more. We were met by the lovely Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Allison Chisnall. The Mayor took lots of time to chat to our students and have her photo taken with them. The students had a fantastic time at the fair and loved all of the rides. They tried all of the rides, including the big scary ones. They came back to school with the biggest smiles on their faces.
