World Book Day Thursday 7th March

Harry Watts Academy are celebrating World Book Day® on Thursday 7th March!

Pupils can dress up however they like or they can wear uniform.

In school, we will be doing activities to encourage reading and promote the love of books.

Pupils have also received a £1 Book Token which can be swapped for a book for free before 31st March 2024. For the books that are available, and where to get them, please see the links below.

World Book Day’s mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Their six principles of reading for pleasure are:

• Taking books home to read
• Listening to books being read aloud (or audiobooks)
• Choose the books you want to read
• Ask for ideas on what to read next
• Make time to read
• Find ways to make reading fun
