Humanities Lead: Jessica Fox, Karen Chruchill and Craig Fazakerly

Engage:

The subjects of geography and history are explored in the engage pathway through the strand “knowledge and understanding of the world”. Practical and skills based activities are linked to the half termly topic and are often taught through stories.

Explore:

In the explore pathway, history and geography is often set in the context of the half termly theme. Pupils will begin to move beyond exploration to look at significant places and people. They will begin to develop knowledge and understanding of cultural, social and environmental connections through first hand experiences.

Discover:

In the discover pathway, we use the National Curriculum and link it with a central theme to explore topics in Geography and History. This is taught every week. To inspire a sense of wonder and exploration, children learn about physical and human geography, including the location and formation of significant global landmarks and how people interact with their environments. This includes the exploration of cultural, social, economic and environmental connections.

Children also have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme.
